The Ministry of health receives donations by HIS Towers Rwanda to fight COVID-19.

Kigali, Rwanda : This Monday on March 1, 2021, the Ministry of Health has received donations amounting to 128,522,683Frw by IHS Rwanda for the renovation works of Kibuye Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit and related equipment.

At the event held at the Ministry of Health headquarters, the Minister of Health Dr. Daniel Ngamije has hailed the support of IHS Towers Rwanda towards Rwanda’s efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Ministry of Health is thankful to IHS Towers leadedership for the donation and continued support in the fight against COVID-19, we are appreciative of your support especially this time where we face of covid-19.” Said Dr. Ngamije.

The Minister disclosed that among other priorities the Ministry has, is to decentralise treatment of COVID-19 especially by expanding capacity to treat severe cases of COVID-19 in all provinces namely Kibuye Hospital in Western Province, Kinihira Hospital in Northern Province, Kibungo Hospital in Eastern Province and in Kabgayi Hospital Southern Province.

While handing over the dummy Cheque at the official donation ceremony, the Managing Director of IHS Rwanda, Mr. Amida AZEEZ commended the Ministry of Health for the efforts deployed in the COVID-19 response.

“Thank for the wonderful work you are doing, we can’t do more than what you are doing, we really thank you for the opportunity to serve.” Said Mr. Amida

In September 2020, HIS donated a range of Personal Protective Equipment namely masks, gloves, face shields, shoe covers, and goggles, as well as 2 ventilators and 5 oxygen concentrators, in the amount of 20 Million Frw.

They subsequently acquired the tower assets of MTN Rwandacell Ltd and purchased the entire shareholding of Rwanda Towers Ltd (formerly a subsidiary of Airtel Rwanda Ltd). IHS Rwanda Ltd now owns and operates the majority of telecom towers in Rwanda. Headquartered in Kigali, IHS Rwanda has regional offices in Nyanza, Rwamagana and Rubavu.
