5th Africa HealthTech Summit explores intelligent health systems for wellness for all

Kigali, 30 September 2026 – Rwanda is hosting the 5th edition of the Africa HealthTech Summit (AHTS), bringing together more than 4,000 policymakers, health professionals, innovators, investors and partners from across Africa to explore how technology and innovation can strengthen health systems and improve health outcomes across the continent.

Taking place from 30 September to 2 October 2026, the Summit is held under the theme “Wellness for All, Powered by Intelligent Health Systems.” Discussions focus on how technology can strengthen disease prevention, empower health workers, improve access to quality care and support healthier communities.

The Summit also provides a platform for countries, innovators and partners to exchange experiences, showcase practical solutions and forge partnerships that can accelerate the adoption and scale-up of effective health technologies across Africa.

Opening the Summit, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Yvan Butera, called for greater focus on innovations that contribute to resilient, future-ready health systems and make healthcare more accessible, responsive and effective.

“Technology is enabling health workers to identify pregnancy risks earlier and connect mothers to timely care. This is helping reduce preventable maternal deaths in Rwanda,” Dr. Butera noted, highlighting how digital solutions can translate into tangible improvements in health outcomes.

Five years of shaping Africa’s health future

The Africa HealthTech Summit has grown significantly since its first edition in 2022, which began as a side event attracting around 600 participants. Five years later, AHTS has evolved into a growing community of more than 5,600 stakeholders committed to advancing technology-enabled health systems across Africa.

The fifth edition marks not only this growth, but also a shift towards greater emphasis on implementation and measurable impact. With 104 sessions, 13 site visits, investor meetings and 75 implementation opportunities, AHTS2026 seeks to move beyond dialogue by connecting promising and proven innovations with the partnerships, investment and health-system leadership needed to put them into practice and scale their impact.

Through this growing community, the Summit continues to strengthen collaboration among governments, health professionals, innovators, investors and development partners—helping translate Africa’s health technology potential into practical solutions that contribute to stronger health systems and better health for all.
