The National Health Intelligence Center (NHIC) is a centralized platform for processing, integrating, triangulating, and analyzing real-time health data using advanced technological tools and artificial intelligence. It serves as a strategic hub for evidence-based decision-making and policy development, drawing data from community health workers, health posts, health centers, district and referral hospitals together with other domains including disease prevention and surveillance, emergency response, health workforce, health infrastructure and medical equipments, health financing, supply chain management, civil registration and vital statistics, and other demographic data

The National Health Intelligence Center (NHIC) is designed as a dynamic command center that facilitates data-driven decision-making, streamlined operations, and strategic policy development to strengthen population health outcomes in Rwanda.

By integrating diverse health data streams, enhancing coordination, and addressing gaps in real-time health monitoring, NHIC provides a comprehensive and unified health perspective, reinforcing the country’s healthcare infrastructure for more effective planning and response.

1. Source Layer: Aggregates data from systems like DHIS2, eBuzima, CRVS, eLMIS, HWMS, and others
2. Data Transformation: Cleans and standardizes multi-format data
3. Replication Layer: Temporarily stores raw data for processing
4. Data Warehouse: Validates, enriches, and aggregates data for analysis
5. Storage Layer: Houses secure, structured datasets
6. Presentation Layer: Delivers visual analytics and dashboards for decision-making
