Rwanda distributes motorcycles to simplify health outreach
The government of Rwanda through Rwanda Ministry of health has distributed over 217 motorcycles to health centres to simply health outreach to the remotest areas.
“The motorcycles will bring health services like family planning, vaccination closer to the population. Some residents had complained about health centres being far away from them but with these motorcycles healthcare providers will go out to the community to provide health outreaches,” said the Director General for Rwanda Biomedical Centre Dr. Jeanine Condo.

Alongside the motorcycles two refrigerated trucks to transfer vaccines were given to Rwanda Biomedical centre to ensure safety of vaccines right from the airport to their destination. Also 504 computers were given to health centres.
“The computers will ensure consistent recording of data since Rwanda uses it to make evidence based decisions on health,” said Dr.Zacharie Rucemba, Director General of Gitwe Hospital.

Additionally, the new equipment like the motorcycles will fuel vaccination.
“Healthcare providers will find remaining children in their homes and vaccinate them,” said Dr.Rucemba.
In Rwanda vaccination has surpassed 95% owing to such initiatives.
