Volunteer
Volunteering within the health sector of Rwanda is an important way to contribute to the country’s health system. The MOH recognizes the value of volunteers in supporting the health system and implements programs to engage volunteers in the health sector.
Volunteers can contribute to the health sector in various ways, including providing clinical services, health education, and community outreach. Volunteering can also provide opportunities for personal and professional growth, cultural exchange, and networking.
If you are a professional in the health sector or a medical mission and would like to volunteer within the health programs in Rwanda- particularly in clinical services, health education, mentorship, training programs, community outreach and others, please reach out to the MOH - Department of Health Workforce Development at:info@moh.gov.rw
“My motivation was to give back by sharing my knowledge and practical experience”
Asher Da Costa, an occupational therapist from England, volunteered at Nyagatare Hospital in Rwanda through the IOM program in 2022. Reflecting on her inspiring experience, Asher said, "My five-week stay flew by. I am incredibly grateful for this wonderful volunteering opportunity. My motivation was to give back by sharing my knowledge and practical experience. During my time at Nyagatare Hospital, I worked to raise awareness of occupational therapy and collaborated with physiotherapists to treat patients. Observing the resilience of both staff and patients was truly inspiring. Guided by the biopsychosocial model and a strength-based approach, I shared my knowledge and gained valuable insights. It was a rewarding journey, and I encourage others to embrace similar opportunities.” |
