The Minister of Health officiated at a ceremony to handover mobile phones to Community Health workers in Northern Province districts (Musanze, Burera, Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke). The ceremony took place Fatima Pastoral Centre in Musanze District on Wednesday 14 July 2010.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister of Health Dr Richard commended the work done by Community Health Workers to sensitize the population on health programmes. He told them that these phones should be used to give reports to health centers and not in their personal businesses. The Minister further advised those who received phones that in their cooperatives, they should think of how to buy new phones on their own to replace these.

A representative of Community Health workers thanked his Excellence the President of the Republic for the donation and pledged to vote for him in the upcoming elections. She further said that these phones will ease their work of reporting their daily work to the relevant authorities. She considered the donation as one of the solutions to the problems they encounter in their daily work.
