GOR and USG signed the HIV/AIDS Partnership Framework

The Government of Rwanda (GOR) and the Government of the United States of America signed the HIV/AIDS Partnership Framework that will guide the two governments in their cooperation to strengthen Rwanda’s national response to HIV/AIDS epidemic. The Partnership Framework was signed last Saturday 19 June 2010 by the Minister of Health, Dr Richard Sezibera and a representative of the civil society network of people living with HIV/AIDS (RRP+) on the GOR side and Ambassador Eric Goosby, the US Global AIDS Coordinator on the side of the USG.

The Minister of Health Dr. Richard SEZIBERA welcomes the partnership and thanked the USG for their support in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other health programmes in general. He commended the commitment of the team on the ground and their contribution to overcome the challenges of the health sector.
Through this partnership framework, the U.S. Government intends to continue to support the Government of Rwanda’s strong commitment to national ownership, universal access to HIV/AIDS services, quality service delivery, institutional capacity building and a coordinated response. This partnership framework will help reduce the number of new HIV infections, reduce morbidity and mortality among people living with HIV/AIDS, increase social and economic opportunities for people living with HIV/AIDS, and build capacity of the public health system.
