A foundation stone for the construction of Kinazi Hospital in Ruhango District was laid last Thursday 10 June 2010 by the Minister of Health Dr. Richard SEZIBERA.
Adressing Kinazi residents who were present at the ceremony, the Minister of Health reminded them that this hospital was a presidential pledge which was being fulfilled and asked them to participate actively in Government development programmes like UMURENGE SACCO and land consolidation meant to help them get out of poverty.
The Minister urged Kinazi residents to fight killer diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria. The Minister on the other hand commended them for the progress made in family planning and urged them on proper hygiene and fighting malnutrition. The construction of Kinazi Hospital of a total budget of about 5.5 billion Rwandan Francs will be funded by the Government of Rwanda.

The Minister continued his tour to the National University where he officiated at a ceremony to handover communication equipment to students of the School of journalism and communication in the National University and KABGAYI Catholic University.
Addressing journalism students, the Minister told them that the donation of equipment is an investment in the School from which is expected a good understanding of the health issues and a good communication of these and therefore urged them to strive to be the best.
The students thanked the Minister of Health for the donation saying that it will help them practice what they have learned.
The following day, the Minister had a meeting with the Medical School students and staff and exchanged with them about the Government vision of medical education and the future of the country.
The Students and the staff share with the Minister the challenges they have and the Minister advised on ways of overcoming them.
The Minister of Health concluded his trip in Butare University Teaching Hospital where he met with Heads of Departments from King Faisal Hospital, CHUK and CHUB in a videoconference.
