Minister of Health receives Burundi delegation

The Minister of Health Dr Richard Sezibera last Monday 1st March 2010 received a delegation from Burundi coming to Rwanda on a study tour on Community Health Insurance.

As revealed by the Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Burundi Honorable Emmanuel Gikoro, the delegation was coming to learn from Rwanda experience as regards implementation of Community Health Insurance and decentralization of health services.

Burundi delegation was briefed on how community health insurance works in Rwanda and its contribution to increasing accessibility to health care by the population and therefore contributing to the improvement of the health situation in the country. 

During their five day visit (from 28 February to 4 March 2010) Burundi delegation will have an opportunity to visit community health insurance services both at central and decentralized level to see how they work.

Burundi delegation led by the Minister of Public Health Honorable Emmanuel Gikoro included the Minister of Decentralization, Honorable Pierre Mupira and other officials from the two Ministries.

This delegation follows another which came in November 2008 to share experience in the distribution and social marketing of the condom and reproductive health and family planning.
