| Health professionals are urged to become and remain scientifically and clinically competent |

Consultative meetings were held end last week between the Minister of Health and health professionals to discuss their common plan to improve the services delivered in the health sector. The meeting with nurses and midwives took place on 25 February 2010 bringing together Rwanda nurses and midwives council and Rwanda Nurses and midwives association representatives as well as Heads of Nursing in all hospitals of the country. The following day, the Minister met with Rwanda Medical Council and Rwanda Medical Association representatives with all Directors of District hospitals. In his message to Doctors and Nurses and Midwives, the Minister of Health Dr Richard Sezibera thanked them for the valuable work they do to save human lives and urged them to improve service delivery emphasizing a number of core values that should characterize them which include honesty and transparency among others. Doctors and nurses were also urged on ownership of their work and proper time management in whatever they do. Minister Sezibera also told doctors that they should do all they can to become and remain scientifically and clinically competent and this requires practicing, doing research and teaching. . Nurses and doctors commended Ministry of Health leadership for having planned such important meetings which provide an opportunity to get together and discuss their day to day work and set together strategies to overcome the existing challenges. |
